Working Toward a Northwest PPLD Library
Community members have begun working with PPLD leadership to explore a future library location in northwest Colorado Springs. PPLD has invited our group to join its ongoing search for possible sites and to help shape a shared vision for what this library could become. Early conversations have been productive, with a clear, shared goal: opening a PPLD library that serves the northwest community.
You can help make this possible. If you know of vacant land or buildings, potential property donations, or partnership opportunities, we’d love to hear from you. This effort is in its early stages, and we appreciate your patience as we move forward thoughtfully and collaboratively.

PPLD Board of Trustees Meeting - Recap
This was Kenny Kuniyuki's first meeting and we welcomed him.
A new URA project was reviewed and passed 4 to 3.
October 16 marks one year since the vote not to renew Rockrimmon Library’s lease — a decision that continues to shape our community’s access to local library services.
The Trustees are looking into a hybrid model for a new Rockrimmon library. We asked them to include the community soon, even in the brainstorming phase.
PPLD's [Budget Story] was shown as problematic.
We have a new PPLD Board Trustee: Kenny Kuniyuki!
We could not convince enough City Councilmembers to vote against the backwards, out-of-sequence process used to renominate Kenny Kuniyuki.
The vote went as follows:
Donaldson, Gold, Henjum voted against appointing Kuniyuki due to the wonky process.
Bailey, Crow-Iverson, Leinweber, Risley, Rainey, Williams voted for appointing Kuniyuki. Leinweber, Rainey and Williams all switched their votes from NO to YES!
How can we make this donation happen?
Our former Rockrimmon landlord, Ismet Sahin, has generously offered to DONATE a 10,000-square-foot building to bring a library back to the northwest side of Colorado Springs. This space is in the same shopping center as our old library, in the building that once housed the veterinary clinic. This is a huge opportunity for our community—and our elected leaders must know how important it is to us. Please email City Council members, the Board of County Commissioners, and the Library Board of Trustees, asking them to pursue this generous donation and restore a library in our neighborhood.
PPLD approves $2.6 million purchase of two branches
On August 20th, the PPLD BoT unanimously voted to purchase Ruth Holley Library and Ute Pass Library. The PPLD Foundation contributed $1 million toward Ruth Holley, while the Ute Pass acquisition was funded from reserves. While we celebrate the investment in Ruth Holley, these costly acquisitions raise continued concerns about transparency and financial accountability. The board had previously cited budget strains when closing Rockrimmon Library just eight months ago.
